Keep On Keepin’ On to bring its powerful story and Northern Soul spirit to audiences nationwide!

Work on the development of our Keep On Keepin’ On Tour continues apace. Here’s a short film we recorded back in October 2023 featuring interviews with some of the creative team and snippets of another rehearsed reading of the play with a brilliant cast of actors at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester.

Bradford playwright, Mick Martin, is celebrating as Arts Council England approve funding for the development the next phase of his new play, Keep On Keepin’ On, a sequel to his critically acclaimed sell-out play, Once Upon A Time In Wigan.

Working alongside Lancashire based producer, Alex O’Toole, Mick is now in discussions with place partners to bring the play to towns in Northern Soul strongholds across the UK as part of wider ambitions to foreground a narrative about the plight of the independent retailer and show how theatre can help reinvigorate local high streets and their evening and nighttime economies.

During the summer of 2019, The Old Courts in Wigan supported playwright, Mick Martin, to develop and rehearse his brand new show exploring the North’s enduring love affair with Northern Soul in their Apex space.
